The 5 best Shopify pick list apps in 2026 (scan-first vs print-first)
Five pick list apps compared along the axis that actually matters — barcode-scan verification vs print-and-go — with consolidation, bin sorting, bundles and pricing for each.

TL;DR
Choose by workflow, not by feature count. Print-first (pick from a paper list, no scanner): [Solvi Pick Lists](/apps/batch-pick-lists) — one consolidated PDF, bin/vendor sorting, bundles split. Scan-first (verify every item by barcode at a station): iPacky or BR Pick List Pro. Documents-first (invoices and packing slips with picking included): OrderlyPrint. Simple product grouping on a budget: Pickify.
The pick list category hides two different products behind one name. Scan-first apps run your warehouse from a screen: pickers carry a device, every item is barcode-verified, errors are caught at the bench. Print-first apps produce a sheet of paper that walks the room in shelf order. Both are legitimate; they suit different teams, and most 'best of' lists rank them as if they were interchangeable. We build a print-first app, so this list is written from inside the category — criteria first, disclosure above, every competitor's listing linked.
Scan-first or print-first? Decide this first
| Print-first | Scan-first | |
|---|---|---|
| Hardware | A printer | Scanner or phone per picker (+ a packing station, usually) |
| Setup & training | Minutes | Hours to days (stations, devices, staff onboarding) |
| Error catching | Sorted list + checkboxes | Barcode verification per item |
| Best at | 5–200 orders/day, stable team | High volume, look-alike SKUs, rotating staff |
| Typical cost | Free–$15/mo | Free–$40+/mo (per-station tiers common) |
Rule of thumb from stores we work with: below roughly 200 orders a day with a team that knows the room, a well-sorted printed list captures most of the error reduction at a fraction of the ceremony. Scanning starts paying for itself when wrong-item refunds are a weekly line item — the full math is in the batch fulfillment workflow guide.

How to test any of them honestly
- 01
Use a real batch, not a demo
Select 20+ real orders where at least one product appears in several of them. Consolidation quality — the whole point — only shows on overlapping orders.
- 02
Check the sort against your actual shelves
If your stockroom has bins, the list must sort A-2 before A-10 (natural sort) and group by location. If it cannot follow your room, it saves no walking.
- 03
Order a bundle on purpose
Add one kit product to the test batch. The list must show components with correct quantities — a kit line without contents is how mis-picks happen.
- 04
Time one full run
Print (or open) the list and pick the batch. Compare against your current per-order time. The app that wins is the one that changes this number, not the one with the longest feature page.
Our verdict
If you pick from paper — most stores under 200 orders/day do — Solvi Pick Lists is the strongest print-first option here: real consolidation, natural-sorted bins, bundle splitting, and read-only scopes, from $0. If your error rate justifies scan verification, iPacky (free plan to start) and BR Pick List Pro ($20 flat) are the two we would test, in that order.
Frequently asked questions
What is the best free pick list app for Shopify?
Solvi Pick Lists (5 consolidated lists/month), iPacky and Pickify all have free plans. Which is 'best' depends on the workflow: Solvi for consolidated print-first picking, iPacky for scan-based verification, Pickify for simple product grouping. All three free tiers are enough to run a real test batch.
Does Shopify have a built-in pick list?
Not a consolidated one. The admin prints order pages one at a time, and packing slips are per-order documents. Printing the morning's 30 orders natively means 30 print jobs and no combined quantities — which is the gap this whole app category exists to fill.
Do I need barcode scanning to reduce picking errors?
No — scanning is one way, not the way. A consolidated list sorted in shelf order eliminates the two biggest error sources (revisiting shelves and reading the wrong line) with zero hardware. Scanning adds per-item verification on top, which matters most with look-alike SKUs, high volume, or rotating staff.
Can these apps print packing slips too?
The scan-first suites (iPacky, BR Pick List Pro) and OrderlyPrint do. Solvi Pick Lists deliberately does not — packing slips are per-order documents that Shopify and document apps already print well, and mixing them into a picking app blurs both jobs. The difference between the two documents is covered in [pick list vs packing slip](/guides/pick-list-vs-packing-slip).
How current are the facts in this comparison?
Every competitor fact (pricing, positioning) carries a last-verified date of July 2026 and links to the vendor's public App Store listing. We re-verify quarterly — if you spot something outdated, email us and we will fix it within a day.
