TL;DR
No single tool replaces Stocky, because Stocky was several tools in one. The map in short: purchase orders, suppliers and reorder suggestions → a dedicated app (Solvi Restock from free); stock levels and transfers → Shopify admin, natively; stocktakes and barcode counting → a scan-first counting tool; demand forecasting → already removed from Stocky in 2025, now a planning platform if you truly need it; label printing → a label app. Full table below.
Stocky accumulated a decade of features, and its shutdown on August 31, 2026 splits them along a line merchants keep rediscovering: some jobs went native into Shopify admin, some belong to focused apps, and a few have no successor at all. Mapping your own usage against this table turns 'replace Stocky' from an anxious search into a short shopping list.
The complete map
| Stocky feature | Replacement | Notes |
|---|---|---|
| Reorder suggestions | Dedicated app — Solvi Restock, Prediko, Forstock… | Admin has nothing; Stocky's own min/max forecasting was removed in July 2025 already |
| Purchase orders (create, send, track) | Dedicated app | No native POs in Shopify — the workflow |
| Supplier records & lead times | Dedicated app | No native suppliers; Stocky's records cannot be exported |
| Receiving against a PO | Dedicated app | Full/partial receiving lives with the PO tool |
| Stock levels & adjustments | Shopify admin — native | Products → Inventory; nothing to migrate |
| Inventory transfers between locations | Shopify admin — native | Admin Transfers replaced Stocky's (Stocky lost it in July 2025) |
| Stocktakes / barcode counting | Scan-first counting app | No native equivalent; a separate product category |
| Demand forecasting | Planning platform (Inventory Planner, Prediko) | Or transparent velocity math for the weekly reorder |
| Low-stock visibility | App digest or admin views | The options compared |
| Barcode label printing | Label app — Solvi Barcode Labels | Stocky printed labels; label apps do it better |
| Inventory analytics / ABC | Analytics apps (Stockful et al.) | No native ABC analysis |
| POS Pro tie-in | Nothing — the model died with Stocky | Replacements are plan-independent |
Reading the map: three migration profiles
“I used Stocky to reorder and send POs” (most stores)
Your entire migration is one app plus one afternoon of supplier re-entry. The daily loop — see what is low, check the suggestion, build the PO, receive against it — is exactly the scope of Solvi Restock, from free. Admin covers your stock levels natively, as it already did.
“Stocktakes were my Stocky”
You need a counting tool, and it is worth choosing scan-first: periodic counts without barcode verification drift immediately. Export your stocktake history for the records, pick a counting app for the future, and treat reordering as the separate decision it is.
“I relied on the forecasting”
Stocky itself dropped min/max forecasting in July 2025, so you have lived without it for a year — worth asking whether the reorder-point math plus judgment already covers you. If genuine demand planning moves your buying decisions (seasonal buys, long leads, thousands of SKUs), Inventory Planner and Prediko are the serious options in the alternatives comparison.
Frequently asked questions
Does Shopify admin replace Stocky?
Only partially: stock levels, adjustments and inventory transfers are native. Purchase orders, suppliers, reorder suggestions, stocktakes and forecasting have no admin equivalent — those need apps, which is why Shopify's own migration guidance points merchants at the App Store for them.
What replaces Stocky's purchase orders?
A dedicated PO app. Shopify has no native purchase orders, so the create-send-receive cycle moves to tools like Solvi Restock (from free, $19/month for unlimited POs), or the bigger planning platforms if you also want demand forecasting attached.
Is there a free replacement for all of Stocky?
For all of it, no — Stocky's breadth was subsidized by POS Pro and is exactly what no one rebuilds for free. For the most-used slice (reorder list, suppliers, a few POs a month), Solvi Restock's free plan covers it; admin inventory covers stock levels at no cost as it always did.
What happened to Stocky's forecasting?
Shopify removed min/max forecasting from Stocky in July 2025, a year before the shutdown — existing users already migrated off it or replaced it with judgment. Full demand-planning suites (Inventory Planner, Prediko) remain the option for stores whose buying genuinely needs statistical forecasts.
