Stocky vs Solvi Restock: what carries over, what changes
A feature-by-feature comparison between the app Shopify is retiring on August 31, 2026 and the reorder assistant built for its users — including what Solvi deliberately does not rebuild.

TL;DR
Stocky dies on August 31, 2026 — this is not a choice between two live apps, it is a map of what carries over. [Solvi Restock](/apps/solvi-restock) rebuilds Stocky's daily core (reorder suggestions, purchase orders, suppliers, receiving statuses) with math you can check, at $0–39/month. It deliberately does not rebuild stocktakes, POS Pro coupling or demand forecasting — if those were your Stocky, the full alternatives comparison has better fits.
We build Solvi Restock, and this page exists because 'stocky vs' is what ex-Stocky merchants actually search. The honest frame: Stocky was a free, broad inventory app subsidized by POS Pro; Solvi Restock is a focused, paid reorder assistant. Broad-vs-focused is the real decision, and it cuts differently depending on which Stocky screens you actually opened.

The two apps as they stand
Stockyby Shopify
Shopify's own inventory and purchase-order app (POS Pro) — delisted February 2, 2026 and shutting down August 31, 2026.
Was free with POS Pro — shutting down Aug 31, 2026
Best for: Nobody, anymore — the app dies August 31, 2026; this card exists so you can compare what you are leaving.
- Was free with POS Pro and deeply integrated with Shopify
- Covered purchase orders, suppliers, stocktakes and forecasting in one app
- Shuts down permanently on August 31, 2026 (already removed from the App Store)
- Supplier data cannot be exported at all — it must be recreated by hand elsewhere
- Historical POs and stocktakes require manual export before the deadline
- Shopify's suggested replacement (admin inventory) has no forecasting, suppliers or stocktakes
Solvi Restockby Useful Tools
Our appKnow what to reorder today and how much — then turn the answer into a ready-to-send purchase order.
Free plan · from $19/month · 7-day free trial
Best for: The daily Stocky loop — reorder list, suppliers, POs, receiving statuses — rebuilt focused, plan-independent, and from free.
- The reorder list — sorted by urgency
- Visible math on every suggestion
- One click from list to purchase order
What carries over cleanly
The morning ritual survives intact: open the app, see what needs ordering, build the supplier PO, send the PDF, receive against it later. Solvi's version of the suggestion is more legible than Stocky's ever was — every quantity shows its velocity, cover and formula in plain words (the math, on screen). Costs keep coming from Shopify's inventory unit cost, exactly as Stocky read them.
What Solvi deliberately does not rebuild
- Stocktakes and barcode counting — a physical-count workflow is its own product. If counts were central to your Stocky use, look at scan-first inventory tools; for the label side, Solvi Barcode Labels covers printing.
- POS Pro coupling — Stocky was a POS Pro perk; Solvi is plan-independent. Nothing to configure, nothing tied to your retail plan.
- Demand forecasting — Stocky itself removed min/max forecasting in July 2025. Solvi replaces forecasts with checkable arithmetic; if you want probabilistic planning, Prediko or Inventory Planner are the honest recommendations.
Our verdict
If Stocky was your reorder-and-PO tool — which its reviews suggest it was for most stores — Solvi Restock is the closest like-for-like: same daily loop, clearer math, no POS Pro requirement, from free. Run the free plan against your live store while Stocky still works; the suggestions land in minutes and the comparison costs nothing.
Frequently asked questions
Is Solvi Restock an official Stocky successor?
No — Shopify has no official successor; it points merchants at admin inventory, which has no POs, suppliers or suggestions. Solvi Restock is an independent app built specifically for the workflow Stocky users lose, but it is not affiliated with Shopify's Stocky team.
Can Solvi Restock import my Stocky data?
There is nothing importable to get: Stocky has no supplier export, and its PO history export is an archive rather than an operational dataset. Solvi computes suggestions from your Shopify sales history directly — the only re-entry is your suppliers and lead times, once, whichever app you pick.
Do I lose stocktakes by choosing Solvi Restock?
Solvi does not do stocktakes — deliberately. Physical counting is a separate job with its own scan-first tools, and bundling it would mean rebuilding the sprawling app that just died. Export your stocktake history from Stocky for the records, and pick a counting tool separately if counts are core to your operation.
Does Solvi Restock require POS Pro like Stocky did?
No. Stocky's free price tag was tied to the POS Pro subscription; Solvi Restock works on any Shopify plan with its own free tier. Merchants who kept POS Pro mainly for Stocky can reassess that line item after August.
